About the work

Your body.
Your experience.
Your pace.

Hands-on work,
with attention to how you move and feel.

What is somatic bodywork?

Working with what you feel

Somatic means relating to the body as you experience it from the inside. In a session, we pay attention to things you can feel: a held breath, a tight jaw, the weight of your feet on the floor, or the difference between a movement that feels easy and one that takes effort.

Touch, movement and attention

Bodywork brings hands-on contact into that exploration. In my practice, gentle holds and light pressure are combined with small, guided movements. You might rest on a padded table while I support an area of your body, or sit in a chair and explore how your shoulders, spine or feet move. You stay fully clothed, and touch is always agreed with you.

Understanding patterns of tension

Stress and daily habits can show up physically: shoulders that lift towards your ears, a clenched jaw or holding your breath as you concentrate. Working slowly gives you time to recognise these patterns and try something different. We notice what changes with gentle touch, a smaller movement, a different position or a pause.

Bringing the work into daily life

The aim is to connect what you discover in a session with how you use your body every day. That might mean recognising tension while you work, finding a more comfortable way to sit, or noticing when you need to change position. We can explore a simple movement or body-awareness practice for you to use between appointments.

What happens
in a session.

Your 90-minute appointment includes an opening conversation, fully clothed bodywork and guided movement, and time to review what you noticed. Here is what that looks like.

Talk through what brings you here

We start with where you feel tension or discomfort, what you hope to get from the session and any injuries or health concerns relevant to the work. We agree which areas to focus on and whether you would like touch.

Receive bodywork and explore movement

You remain fully clothed, resting on a padded table or sitting comfortably. With your agreement, I use gentle holds or light pressure on areas such as your shoulders, back or feet. I may guide a small movement or ask you to notice your breathing, checking the pressure and pace with you as we go.

Notice changes and take something home

Before you get up, we pause to notice how your body feels. We might compare a simple movement with how it felt at the start, then discuss what you noticed. If useful, we choose one easy practice to try at home, such as a gentle shoulder movement or a brief body check-in.

Benefits of bodywork

Less tension.
More ease.

Bodywork and somatic practice can help ease muscle tension, reduce feelings of stress and make everyday movement feel more comfortable. Sessions combine gentle touch, movement and body awareness to support these changes.

Ease muscle tension

Notice and soften the everyday holding in your shoulders, jaw or back. Gentle bodywork and slow movement can help your body feel less braced and more comfortable.

Reduce stress and unwind

Give your body a chance to settle out of the rush. A slower pace, attentive touch and awareness of your breathing can support relaxation and a calmer, more grounded feeling.

Move with greater ease

Become more aware of how you sit, stand and move. Exploring familiar movements gently can help you find less effort, more freedom and practical ways to care for your body between sessions.

Ask another question

Before you begin

Do I need previous experience?

No. You do not need to know any special language or have experience of bodywork. We begin with a conversation and explain each invitation before you decide whether to try it.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move easily, such as a soft top and loose trousers. You remain fully clothed for these sessions. We can use cushions or a blanket to help you feel comfortable on the table or in a chair.

How can I prepare for my first session?

There is nothing to rehearse or get right. You might take a moment to consider what you are curious about, any boundaries you want to share and any questions you would like to ask.

What if I have an injury or a health concern?

Please get in touch before booking so we can discuss whether the session is suitable and whether adjustments are possible. Bodywork is not a replacement for medical assessment or treatment; questions about a health condition belong with your qualified healthcare professional.

During your session

What happens in an appointment?

We discuss where you feel tension and what you want to work on. You then sit or lie comfortably, fully clothed, for agreed gentle touch, small guided movements and attention to your breathing. We finish by reviewing what you noticed and, if useful, choosing a simple practice for home. All of this is included in the 90-minute appointment.

Does a session always involve touch?

No touch happens without your agreement. You can ask to explore movement, body awareness or conversation instead. We discuss what is available and suitable, and you are welcome to decline an invitation.

Can I pause, stop or change my mind?

Yes, at any time. You can ask for a different pace, less pressure, more space or an end to the session. You do not need to push through discomfort or explain your decision to have it respected.

Booking & practicalities

How long is a session?

The individual appointment and each appointment in the three-session and six-session bundles shown here last 90 minutes. That time includes our opening conversation, the bodywork and a quiet finish.

Do I need a bundle, and how often should I come?

A single appointment is a complete option. A bundle offers continuity if you would like to return. The pace of future appointments is something we can discuss together, taking account of your preferences, availability and the bundle’s validity period.

What if I need to change or cancel an appointment?

Check the cancellation and rescheduling terms provided with your booking, and contact the practitioner as soon as your plans change. Notice periods, any fees and bundle expiry rules should be clear before you pay.
